Wishing you a Happy New Year for 2014 and a special thanks to our new shareholders.

We are delighted to announce that we now have 60 shareholders which is fantastic news especially as we only launched our share issue on 1st December.

If you haven't bought your shares yet, don't worry you have until the end of February, however, if you can buy them soon it helps us plan for the future.

Sadly, today we lose our Post Office until we get an outreach service sometime next year.  We will certainly miss Jenny and Graham and wish them well for the future.

At the moment as the wind blows and the rain pours we have to leave Grampound to do our last minute shopping for Christmas, but next year it will be a pleasant trip to Grampound Village Store and of course the sun will be shining too.   Merry Christmas.

Information Evening

PictureTime for a chat.
Over 70 people dropped in to find out more about the store and the share issue.  The wine and tasters of Da Bara breads, pannetonne, mince pieces and Cornish cheese was also much appreciated.
Some villagers came prepared to buy shares whilst others wanted a little more information.  It was helpful too for us as two residents with sight difficulties told us how we can help them access our shop.  Our volunteers will be able to explain what products are on the shelves, the prices and any special offers.
We have been delighted with the response so far and the number of requests for shares received. PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO SEND BACK YOUR APPLICATIONS FORMS. We look forward to hearing from you.

No better time to support community enterprise in Grampound...

Small Business Saturday is the ideal time to buy shares in the Grampound Village Store. When we open the Village Store and you can Shop here in Grampound it will mean more of your money stays close to home:  supporting the local amenities, local suppliers, local jobs and reducing food miles.  Each £1 spent locally keeps your money circulating closer to home:   for each £1 spent locally, 45 pence is reinvested locally.  For each £1 spent in a corporate chain, 15 pence is reinvested locally.  If you increase your local shopping from 50% to 80%, the multiplier effect means this will double the pounds that are reinvested locally.

Grampound Village Store website launched!

The website designed to promote an exciting project to create a community shop at Grampound between St Austell and Truro in Cornwall has been launched.     When the people of Grampound learnt that Hollies Store and Post Office was closing in June 2013, due to retirement, a village meeting of local people expressed a need for, and desire to establish, a community shop.
As a first step a Share Offer is being made available to local residents and friends of Grampound from 2nd Dec 2013 to 28th Feb 2014 to encourage true community ownership and commitment in an exciting and fulfilling venture which will be a great legacy for the village.
Share Offer packs are being delivered personally to all households in the Parish with an invitation to attend a special evening at the Heritage Centre on December 6th when you can discuss the plans for the village community store with the Steering Group members and ask all your questions.

Share Offer packs, the Business Plan & Application Forms can also be downloaded from this site.
