On Wednesday July 16th 2014 The Prince’s Countryside Fund announced its awards for 2014. Grampound Village Store was one of only fifteen successful bids out of 165 applications. We are delighted to be able to tell you that we have been awarded £18,860. This means we can really get going and there is every possibility that YOUR NEW STORE will be open in the autumn. We are so lucky to have some really good businesses in our parish and last week Margie Lundie, Helen Bunt and Annette Egerton visited Andrea Weller who with her husband runs Easy Style which provides shop fitting and furniture for shops, hotels, cafes and restaurants.
Andrea showed us tables and chairs which won't cost a fortune but will look great in our coffee shop and gave us good advice on what will be suitable. We will also be talking to Easy Style to get advice about shop fitting when we get to that stage. Thank you so much Andrea we look forward to working with you. Margie had a great idea whilst we were at Creed, she suggested we seek people willing to sponsor a chair! So anyone reading this who would like to sponsor a chair, please email shop@grampoundvillagestore.co.uk We are so pleased to tell you that our planning permission for a store and coffee shop in portacabins on land by the village hall has been granted. It took a little longer than we hoped because of our proximity to the river but with considerable help from Helen Bunt and her husband Irving who worked hard on a flood risk assessment we can plan our next steps.
We are still working with the Village Hall Committee to get a lease on the land and we are also awaiting the outcome of a grant application but everything is going in the right direction and we hope we can be up and running in the autumn. After our successful Sausage and Mash Evening we are delighted to invite you to our next fundraising event.
Jazz in the Hall with Degrees of Jazz Quartette At Grampound Village Hall Saturday 14th June - Doors open 7.30 pm Tickets £10 to include a complimentary glass of wine and 'nibbles' To reserve your tickets please phone Annette 01726 884451 Bar - Raffle - Dancing On Friday Stephen Gilbert, Member of Parliament for St Austell and Newquay came to Grampound to learn about the community's work towards setting up a much needed village store. He met with members of the Steering Group who told him of the tremendous support they were receiving from the village and beyond and how they are determined to open the shop later in the year. Would you believe it! We have sold £18,650 worth of shares as of this morning and there is still time for those who have not made it yet. Either pop into Trevillick House between 10 am and 2 pm or drop it through the door before midnight.
The response from our small community has been overwhelming and shows how much we all want a village store to shop in. The Steering Group will now do all in its power to open the store later this year - planning permission permitting. |
