A huge thanks to those who set up and decorated the hall and tables, to those who cooked and served and an even bigger thanks to those who cleared and cleaned the kitchen and hall after. Thanks also to those who ran the bar and raffle, who entertained us with magic and quizzes and of course to Skinners for donating pints of Betty Stoggs.
Thank you Grampound for supporting our fundraising evening and making it such a huge success. 90 of us enjoyed mash potato from Griggs, sausages from Kernow Sausages and two large tables of desserts made and given by many of the partygoers.

Go to our Business page to view the planning application and see on our Home page how to let the planning department know your views about our proposed Village Store and Coffee Shop. This is another big milestone for our project!
Skinner's are donating a 36 pint polypin of popular Betty Stoggs for us to sell at the Sausage and Mash evening. Licence already granted! Skinner's say "We are glad to be able to help with your fundraising, local facilities are hugely important to communities, especially in the more rural parts of Cornwall." We say "Thank you Skinner's for recognising the importance of our proposed Grampound Village Store". Our Treasurer Mark Jones took this photo after he put up the Share-o-meter to show everyone how our share sales are progressing. Wow! over £9000 bought so far but still a way to go! Don't forget to purchase your shares before the end of February. Mark says "Onwards and upwards" and I am sure we all agree with that. We are delighted to announce that we now have 60 shareholders which is fantastic news especially as we only launched our share issue on 1st December.
If you haven't bought your shares yet, don't worry you have until the end of February, however, if you can buy them soon it helps us plan for the future. Sadly, today we lose our Post Office until we get an outreach service sometime next year. We will certainly miss Jenny and Graham and wish them well for the future. At the moment as the wind blows and the rain pours we have to leave Grampound to do our last minute shopping for Christmas, but next year it will be a pleasant trip to Grampound Village Store and of course the sun will be shining too. Merry Christmas. For an original Christmas present why not give a Share in the Grampound Village Store project. You are invited to invest in a new community shop, to be called Grampound Village Store, so that we can again have a shop in our village. Grampound Village Store will be run as a not-for-profit organisation for the benefit of the people of Grampound. Shares will be on sale until 28th February 2014, for more details and a downloadable Share Booklet explaining the plans click the button below. Over 70 people dropped in to find out more about the store and the share issue. The wine and tasters of Da Bara breads, pannetonne, mince pieces and Cornish cheese was also much appreciated. Some villagers came prepared to buy shares whilst others wanted a little more information. It was helpful too for us as two residents with sight difficulties told us how we can help them access our shop. Our volunteers will be able to explain what products are on the shelves, the prices and any special offers. We have been delighted with the response so far and the number of requests for shares received. PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO SEND BACK YOUR APPLICATIONS FORMS. We look forward to hearing from you.
Small Business Saturday is the ideal time to buy shares in the Grampound Village Store. When we open the Village Store and you can Shop here in Grampound it will mean more of your money stays close to home: supporting the local amenities, local suppliers, local jobs and reducing food miles. Each £1 spent locally keeps your money circulating closer to home: for each £1 spent locally, 45 pence is reinvested locally. For each £1 spent in a corporate chain, 15 pence is reinvested locally. If you increase your local shopping from 50% to 80%, the multiplier effect means this will double the pounds that are reinvested locally. Click on the button below for more information |
