Produce grown in Grampound is now on sale in the Village Store. These have been donated by local artisan gardeners and allotmenteers. How much more local could you get? The first delivery was of lettuce and they are selling fast.  Alice had a birthday celebration in the coffee shop in May with a wonderful cake. The coffee shop is an ideal place for a small celebration why not pop in and see it for yourself.  Happy birthday Alice!  Close-up of the cake. Come to the shop to buy all you need to make lovely pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, 17th February. You can see I've bought my ingredients and I'll be making traditional pancakes and eating them with lemon and sugar, although at the weekend I'll make some for my lovely daughter and she likes maple syrup with hers. Rohan was working hard in the shop today, looking after customers and checking stock, he volunteers every Sunday morning as part of his Duke of Edinburgh challenge. With a smile like his, Rohan is very popular with all our customers. See more photos on the gallery. Besides lots of lovely food to buy in our shop, on Saturday the produce market will have producers which complement us. Tammy Perry's Dexter beef and Long Rock Farm's pork are very good quality meats, as well as that there will be authentic sushi made by Hiromi. Lots of other stalls too and whilst you will have a choice of refreshments both the coffee shop and the carnival committee cafe did well in November. Do come and see us on Saturday.  Where have we been for a couple of months? The answer is easy in Grampound Village Store and Coffee Shop and busy, busy, busy!
Sorry not to have posted anything on the blog for a while but have been otherwise engaged keeping the shop stocked and not forgetting enjoying Christmas and the New Year. So Happy New Year to you all and a big thank you to those of you who are keeping the rest of us busy – we really are delighted with your efforts. So what’s the message in January? Only joking! At my age I'd only fall over. The truth is we have been so busy since we started trading last week I have not had time to write here.
This is what we have learnt this week: Newspapers are challenging not only because they arrive before 7.30 am but because orders are never consistent, on Wednesday we received the Bodmin edition of the Cornish Guardian and so our edition arrived a day late. Those picking up papers early will know that Jane Sloan and Margie Lundie are coping admirably with everything that is being thrown at them. We also know that already people love our shop, small but stocking a huge variety of goods and a good selection of treats for people to enjoy. Our customers are all ages and I believe enjoy being served by friends and neighbours who are our trusty volunteers. We want more volunteers so if you have a spare couple of hours a week or a fortnight do join us. And so to tomorrow, we are so excited that Alex Polizzi is giving up her precious time to come along and see what we have achieved and do the honours of cutting the ribbon to officially mark the occasion. Please join us it won't be the same without you. I better not forget my camera! Three PCSO's came to see what we were up to this morning, only two in the photo as the third one couldn't wait to try the coffee!  |
