Three huge blades of 45 metres in length each were transported through Grampound tonight.

A good number of residents came out in the dark and rain tonight to witness a massive convoy of police vehicles stopping all traffic for three huge lorries carrying a blade each.  As one resident commented 'we've never seen anything like it before'.  It seems that people either respect or dislike wind turbines but whatever your position the community fund has helped purchase the shop portacabin and the decking.

These photographs do not do justice to what was witnessed but it was raining and I am a pretty amateur photographer!

Our store is receiving £7,500 from a community fund set up by Airvolution Ltd who are developing the two wind turbines at Garlenick Estate.

The significance of mentioning this today is that between 7-8 pm tonight the blades of the two turbines are being transported through Grampound from the Truro direction ready for erection on the Garlenick site.  This should be an interesting sight and I will take photos and post them tomorrow.  In the meantime below are a couple of photos of the site being developed.

We held a viewing of the store and shop on Saturday for those attending the Produce Market. We had a fantastic response from everyone who attended.

We had a steady stream of viewers and below right you can see Dr Dean Jenkins, Chairman of our Parish Council and Canon Andrew Wade sharing a joke with Alison who is painting the coffee shop.

"They're not looking like portacabins anymore - it's a proper shop!" so says a local resident.

I go away for less than two weeks and cannot believe the progress made by the team led by Helen, Irv and Alison. The store and coffee shop have been painted a beautiful bay tree green, the interior of the store is a pale grey and the wood decking is gorgeous!

We have had volunteer painters (some using rollers and others 3ins brushes - you know who you are!), carpenters and those willing to use elbow grease to do the cleaning and there will be plenty more to do in the next few weeks!

Village Store Float in Grampound Carnival on Saturday

Our village carnival is always a special day for Grampound and this year was no exception. The village store committee were lucky enough to use Tim Lobb's vintage lorry to display local suppliers and local foods that will be available in our shop in just a few weeks time.  We won third prize but we were very much a winner with the crowds in the street especially as we had lots of sweets to hand out.  The photograph below was taken by local photography student, Joe Allen.  Thanks Joe.

Thank you Susan and Jeff Ashwell for a fantastic barbeque!

On the last day of August Susan and Jeff were the perfect hosts at a superb barbeque with all the funds going towards our village store.  Nearly 60 people enjoyed the evening with Susan, Jeff and neighbours Susan and Martin preparing and cooking delicious food (the bar organised by Margie and sister, Ruth was popular too). As well as having fun over £800 was raised. A truly successful night.
